On June 10 I accepted my Peace Corps invitation to Madagascar departing in the fall. On September 28, 2008 I will be going to ‘staging’ (in Philadelphia) for a 2-3 day orientation where I will receive all of my shots, my Peace Corps passport, and a ‘if you are going to quit-then quit now!’ speech. October 2, 2008 I am supposed to arrive in Madagascar to begin my 3-month, in-country Peace Corps training. At this point I have no idea where I will be in the country or what my living conditions will be like. I do know that I will be doing ‘health extension work’ focusing in maternal/infant health, nutrition, immunizations and HIV/AIDs prevention.
For now, I am setting up my blog, working to save up money, and trying to see everyone as much as possible before I depart!
